Congleton Guitar Club April 27th

Postby Paulps » 21 Apr 2013, 17:12

Following a long rest, due to my health (or lack thereof), we resume next Saturday (27th) at Mossley Village Hall, Leek Road, Congleton. CW12 3HX. As normal we start at 1.00PM, but those bringing amps (please let me know) can arrive after 12.15PM. As the building work is still ongoing, there is no car parking on-site, so those with amps etc. will have to unload at the fire exit on Bida Lane (at the side of the hall) then move their vehicle to allow access for others.
Please check this site and emails Friday evening, in case my health has deteriorated (thank you Spellcheck) again and I have to cancel again.
Hope to see lots of you there
Paulps

Paul & June

Many thanks for organising a very enjoyable afternoon at Congleton.
As usual good to see the regulars and on this occasion the newcomers "Toftie & Bennett" who are beginning to make a name for themselves locally as an acoustic guitar and vocal duo.

I took my Burns Baraccuda Special to the 'club which evoked a lot of interest. I have replaced the original wire wound strings with flatwounds (or is it tapewounds Ecca?) provided by Barry Gibson of Burns.
The flatwounds are excellent for producing the "Jet Harris" sound on numbers such as "Man from Nowhere", "Besame Mucho" & " Man with the "Golden Arm". Also very good for playing "Diamonds" in the original key of Dm.

Best wishes

Tony

AND I had the privilege of being allowed to play "Cherokees" on it!! Many thanks Tony for the 'lend'. Sounded very Jet...
First time I have ever played a Bass guitar too.
Great day and my grateful thanks as always to Paul for the organisation and to June for unlimited cups if tea and those delicious cakes.
Cheers

Ian

If I had known you were going to play the 'Barracuda I would have recommended consuming at least 3 weetabix or a can of spinach before attempting to use it!
"Cherokees" sounded good .

Best wishes
