Who nose, maybe this new album he's recording in Nashville will get him the recognition here in the USA he's always deserved. Maybe he can be the catylist that rejuvenates the music biz here. :)

Vince Gill introduced Cliff, and Cliff sang, "Stood Up" which is a Ricky Nelson tune - and Cliff's working with Ricky's sons, Matthew and Gunnar. Two photos from Cliff's facebook page:

"The sessions have been fabulous. These folk work fast and play brilliantly and to cap it all they are great fun. I'm having a terrific time. Left to right: Steve Mandile, producer; Steve Marco Antonio, engineer; Seth, assistant; Dane Bryant, piano; Tom Bukovac, guitars; John Howard, bass; Chuck Tilley, drums… And me on the bike!!"

"Left to right: Matthew Nelson, Chuck Tilley (drums), me, Gunnar Nelson, Steve Mandile (producer)."

Great info, Donna...thanks for posting.
I think u and I are the only ones around here that are Cliffy fans, but I don't care.
His vocals are great and they make great instros!

Maybe my buddy Phil will read this posting and consider recording an instro version of We Don't Talk Anymore.
:D
Or, for all I know he's already done it.

Cliff's hairpieces are becoming less subtle.

In my opinion, that was a disappointing selection of material by Cliff. He has lots of repertoire more suited to the Opry than We Don't Talk Anyone. Living Doll might have been a better choice.

We don't talk anymore was a BIG HIT for him here in the USA. Living Doll, and most of his others are unknown heer.
The other toon he did was a hit for Ricky Nelson here and his new album has Ricky's sons on the project.
Cliffy nose what he's doin. ;)

Here's the Opry vid just posted on 5/6/13:

The slight irony here is that Travellin' Light, When The Girl In Your Arms, The Young Ones and various other hits associated with the early period happened to be by American writers, Sid Tepper, Roy C. Bennett, etc... but, of course, they weren't covers of American hits.

"We Don't Talk Anymore" was Cliff's biggest hit in the US. Not sure if it went to #1, but it was huge in its day. However, since Cliff's voice doesn't really lend itself to that tune in its original key, I would have voted "no" on that one, if selecting what he should sing. I think he should have sung one or two of the fast-tempo songs from his LP "Something Is Going On" which was recorded in Nashville in about 2004. Here is what I consider to the best song on the album. It's very "country."

Kind regards,
Donna
