Quacking strats.

Was Hank Marvin the first guitarist to get that famous Stratocaster ''quacking'' sound ? as on The frightened city, Mumblin mosie etc. I dont remember hearing it prior to The Shadows.

Possibly Hank was not the first- lots of r'n'b/blues players were using Strats and Teles and getting similar sounds in the mid '50's- Johnny Guitar Watson, Guitar Slim, Buddy Guy, Ike Turner, etc and amongst the rockers, people like Johnny Meeks of Gene Vincent's Bluecaps was playing his white Strat pretty hard around 1958 or so.

Have a listen to some of these players on YouTube...
