More power to you Peter and I truly hope it is a huge success.
I believe the comments are not that there are two shows but that they are close to each other date wise and until Shadowsfix had been arranged and advertised nothing was forthcoming from Lakeside or anyone else. Only after the first show was on did it appear that the second show arose like some phoenix from the ashes and it looked like it was set up to be in competition to Shadowsfix therefore creating a conflict as many would not be able to afford both.
I wholly support more live music however the timing of the Lakeside event could have been more carefully thought through so not to create two shows so close together.

Yes, it's rank and the two Shad bass players need to look at themselves. Kick in the teeth for the amateur organisers of Shadowfix.

Actually Brian, Brian Locking is doing Shadowsfix as well, and as far as I know Alan Jones is in The Shadowers, he was last I heard anyway..

Knowing a brilliant guitarist who has played with Chuck Berry's band and other great guitarists and who is having a hard time finding Gigs, I can understand
the reasoning behind the decisions..

One good thing - the food and drink won't be as expensive as at Lakeside!!

Myself and Ecca are amongst the 'Amateur' organisers as well..

Hi again,

I'm not certain but I believe Bruce was approached as to whether he minded Shadowsfix being put on by the organisers.

I hope you get a great Turnout Peter, Life Story ( or is it The Von Creasey Family ;) ) are a great band, the more Shads style
gigs / events the better!

I totally agree Amanda, and wish Pete/Life Story all the best, and the bands doing the Lakeside venue (if Lakeside was closer I'd go to both), this isn't about more 'Shads' music/events, Lakesde weren't bothered about a 'Shads' weekend they knew it was Bruce's last show and could have canvassed everyone last year about an event but chose not to until Shadsfix was up and running.

Hi Amanda et al,
Thanks for the "plug" for "Life Story". It's nice to be appreciated, even though we're only a "Garage Band" ( well - "Community Room" Band, really) who do gigs to raise money for "good causes".
I know it's not on the scale of either Lakeside, or Shadowsfix, but we're doing a show in aid of the Lindsey Rural Players (a bunch of amateur Thesps) at The Broadbent Theatre, Wickenby on Saturday 6 July (put in in your browser). It's a converted Methodist Chapel, out in the wilds of rural Lincolnshire, holds 99 people max, and has a GREAT atmosphere. All are welcome!
"LIVE" Shadows-style music IS alive and well!
Get down and boogie!!
Regards
Paul.

No Lakeside for me. Havde just been to their bookingsite. Prices are much higher than last year.
No UK Shadow music for me this year. I'll go to ShadowDania in Nyborg instead.
Perhaps I will be able to attend Shadowsfix next year.

Blimey, we go away for a weekend and look what happens.... ;)

I'm very much in the 'more the merrier' camp when it comes to live events, it's always nice to have something to look forward to. The main reason we wanted to set up our weekend event was to get as many of us together as possible as it seemed such a shame we'd be losing such a date from our calendars when Bruce called it a day. The only downside to the Lakeside weekend for me is, as has already been mentioned, the timing. If the dates were more evenly spread out over the year I could have attended Lakeside, and possibly Life Story too (good luck with that by the way guys!). Alas, one month's wages can only be eked out so far and September is also a month heavy in birthdays, the inconsiderate sods will all be wanting presents!

Many of you commenting on here have already bought tickets for Shadowsfix, and we thank you all so very much for supporting us. As we've mentioned previously, the whole event is being done at cost, purely because we want to see everyone, listen to some fabulous bands and have a great weekend. We certainly wouldn't be giving the Friday night Shindig away for free if we were in this for profit. We do still have tickets left if anyone would like to join us, you'll be made very welcome and it's going to be a fantastic weekend. I would ask that this doesn't become a 'them and us' battle please? Yes, the timing is a bit pants, but perhaps that's the only weekend Lakeside have available? We know how hard it was for us to find a suitably sized venue, with stage, lighting rig, catering etc that wasn't already booked up years in advance with weddings, cabaret nights and so on. Nothing is ever as black and white as it seems.

I wish them luck with their weekend, and I hope anyone attending their event has a great time. There's no need for malice here, there certainly won't be any coming from us at any rate! As I have already said, we do still have tickets available and all are welcome, please either check our website www.shadowsfix.co.uk or contact us at info@shadowsfix.co.uk if you'd like more information or assistance.

We may be amateurs but from the very start, this has been arranged with nothing but honesty, integrity and a passion for the music. We may not know it all, but we do know that all who attend Shadowsfix will have a fantastic weekend, we're busting our backsides to make sure of it :D

Well put Jayne, the more the merrier was my point too(perhaps tinged with irony) lets hope Shads fans keep supporting live music whenever and as often as possible ;)
