You'll be amused at Hancock's reaction to hearing 'The Savage' on his radio, Jim.

Combined TX middle school Chamber Orchestra play March of the Shadows by Brian Balmages at the Centrum in Houston, TX September 26th, 2011.
ENDQUOTE

Obviously a different piece of music with no connection to The Shadows or Norrie Paramor. Not even to Joe Loss, in fact.

Looking forward to it.

That must be "The Punch And Judy Man", I take it? The other film was made in 1960.

Just as a taster! Eddie Byrne is the ice cream man. Not sure what the jazzy piece is from 4.13, though.

"Just a minute... five shillings...".

And Hancock pays - theatrically, with just two coins.

A disappeared world in more ways than one.

Just watching "The Punch & Judy Man". It was Witchdoctor rather than The Savage - presumably because ABPC had that version in their audio archive...

Jim, are you now any the wiser as to the identity of Norrie's March Of The Shadows, supposedly on the film's soundtrack?

I've watched the entire version of "The Rebel" again (after 53 years), but have only progressed about a half-hour into "The Punch And Judy Man".

The bit I've seen includes Mario Fabrizi buying a round in the pub - a double scotch, a pint of bitter, a "glass of superb" (whatever that was) and a half of mild - all for 10s/3d. It also includes Tony Hancock hearing The Savage (the Witchdoctor version with the drums sounding like Jerry Allison's Not Fade Away cardboard box) on the radio, and the scene in the ice-cream parlour. But not, so far, any rendition of The March Of The Mods.

I'll watch the rest of the film this evening, probably...
