Life in the Jungle CD

Postby drakula63 » 04 May 2013, 09:34

I am pleased to hear that the Shads 1982 album Life in the Jungle is to be released this month on CD. In my view, this was the last of their good albums. I note that it will also include as two bonus tracks the b-sides of the album's singles. A shame that the company concerned, Talking Elephant, couldn't have made more of an effort in this respect with their issue last year of Change of Address. I also hope that they make more of an effort with the packaging which, on the aforementioned CD, was poor.

Anyway, good news in theory and I shall be buying it.

This was released on cd on Polydor, I have it sitting on my desk, back in 1989.
It is good that it is being released again for those who missed it back then.

I bought a used copy of "Life in the Jungle" from Amazon a few years ago; I think it was on the Pickwick label. There seem to be a few copies left if anyone is interested.

I've got the Pickwick copy on CD too, the sounds quality is fine but I think the cover is a little bit bland.

Thanks for that Youtube link, Donna.

I thought I could remember that BBC programme - "6.55 Special" from the late summer of 1982, but I must have switched on half-way through. I managed to make a VHS of part of an interview with Hank and then mimed performances of You Rescue Me and Oh Boy! interspersed with another bit of Hank / Bruce / Sally James banter.

Did they also do (ie, mime to) Theme from Missing?

Theme From Missing:

You Rescue Me:

Oh Boy:

From Des O'Connor's show, Riders of the Range:

I love any/all videos where I can see The Shadows, even if they are miming. Otherwise, all I have are the albums to listen to, which are wonderful - but I like seeing them.

Kind regards,
Donna

We received our stock last week, sold out immediately and had to re-order so we're happy bunnies. :P
Talking Elephant were so surprised ............we keep trying to pressure them to release others but they say it's not easy to get a 'licence' to release......as Hoffers will know.
