The first CD copy I had of this album was also the Pickwick issue. A couple of years later, I managed to get a copy of the original 1989 CD issue of the album. The sound quality of the original CD is far more better than the 1992 Pickwick issue one.

I'd like to buy the reissue but as i already have it i don't really want to, it's tempting though as the reissue is remastered and will have better sound quality but will have to wait as i have more important things to buy (like paying bills etc). :D

Thanks, Donna, for these clips. Really enjoyed them.
Especially "Riders of the Range". Check it out - If the guys are miming it's to a re-recorded track.
I know TV stations used to have us re-record at their facilities (some Union rule) back in the day.
This certainly is different to the album track, Hank does a few low notes in the last chorus that are new.
Also there is an ending that is new. I may need correcting, but I think the album track fades out.
Anyway, a real treat for which I thank you again.
Cheers

The four tracks from the "6.55 Special" show are all mimed, but "Riders Of The Range" from the "Des O'Connor Tonight" show is certainly live. All instruments are plugged in, the amplifiers are there and later on they play and sing "The Young Ones" with Des O'Connor. Even the orchestra behind them plays along.

The only other true live TV performances from the 1980's are "Apache" live on the 23rd of November, 1981 during the "Royal Variety Performance", "Shadoogie" and "Willie And The Hand Jive" during the "Little & Large" show in 1983 and "Pulaski" and "Apache/F.B.I." at the London Palladium in late 1987.

Ivo

I'd say that the Pulaski and Apache / FBI clip contains re-recorded tracks - certainly Pulaski has a section which uses a volume pedal - and there isn't one to be seen on stage during that clip. It's a great clip, though - certainly one of my favourites.

Haven't seen Life in the Jungle appear yet at amazon. Hopefully it WILL, albeit not a MAJOR release... :(
