A gentleman who in the past has been very closely linked with both sky and The Shadows...

FRANCIS MONKMAN

The pic was taken two weeks ago. I am trying to contain my excitement at getting to touch the actual harpsichord that he played on sky's first album!

:D

(Can anyone turn the picture the right way round for me...???!!!)

Thanks Ulrich! Very good of you - I was getting a bit tired of lying on my side!! Apologies for my lack of technical know-how. Next time I WILL try harder!!!

By the way, for those that are interested, the harpischord at which Mr Monkman is seated is the actual David Rubio instrument that he played on the first sky album!! You can hear it on 'Where Opposites Meet'. I had a little go on it (my apologies to the instrument and to all those unfortunate enough to have be within earshot!) and so I can now safely cross another unfulfilled ambition off the list. Still a very looooooooooooong list though...!!!!

If he's a Colossus, he should be playing a Rhodes...

...Or indeed a HUGE computer from the 1940s...

(Probably wouldn't sound quite so good though...)

A couple more scans from the album sleeve.

1) A label that suggests that the album may have been either intended or used as a 'library' album.

2) The track listing with composer credits.
