Stand Up And Say That

Postby richard_kolendo » 09 Aug 2013, 22:18

Hi,

Does anyone have the tab to the lead guitar part of Stand Up & Say That?

Cheers,

Richard

Richard, you say "the tab" as though it exists.

That seems very unlikely.

The most you can realistically hope for is that someone will write it out for you.

Best wishes,

Was just being hopeful!

Am playing it for someone on Wednesday and was hoping to "cheat" and save some time learning it...will sit down and work it out myself!

You will be reproducing one of Bruce's rare lead guitar performances.

Listening to the track fully now...didn't realise how short the lead guitar section is!

Indeed. Does anyone know what guitar he used?

Cheers.

One of their most under rated tracks ........ and a great lead guitar solo from Bruce.

Recorded on 13th June 1961, it is likely Bruce used his JMI rosewood board red Strat, which presumably had arrived by that time. It's a simple but effective lead break which I assume he came up with himself!

Thanks, Bill. As the track came from the first album I assumed that Bruce's guitar would have been one of the ones he used before the arrival of the JMI FR Strats.

BTW, listening to the track again (which I haven't done for a long time) it struck me how much Hank's piano playing style and sound was influenced by Floyd Cramer. The structure of the tune is very reminiscent of Cramer's "On The Rebound."

Cheers.

My understanding is that it was intentionally so. I can't remember where I got it from, but I was told it was a tribute by Hank to Floyd Cramer.
