MID ANGLIA CLUB CLOSES

Postby roninnes » 15 Nov 2009, 20:18

It is with a heavy heart that I wish to advise that with immediate effect the Mid Anglia club is closed.

Over the years we have tried a variety of venues to encourage attendance however the bottom line is that there are simply not enough people attending to continue with the club meetings.

I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to all who have attended and in particular the core members - Harry Howden; Iain Purdon; Steven Swann; Bob Golding; Eddie Lunn; Brian Clark and more recently Jay Hartop, without your help the club would not have existed this long.

Angela & I will no doubt meet up with you at other clubs.

Kindest regards to all,

Angela & Ron

Ron,

Sorry all your hard work has not materialised. Enjoyed my visit to Biggleswade when I came down. Regards to Angie, Harry, and the Mid Anglia club members I met.

Hi Ron

I echo Dave's comments. We only have had the opportunity to come along to the club the one time but we had a thoroughly good day and really enjoyed your company and the general friendly atmosphere. Hope to see you at either the Berkshire Club (www.berks-sc.org) or the Surrey Club sometime if you can make it.

All the best
Chris

Ron and Angie

I'm so sorry to hear about your decision to close down your Mid Anglia Club. I feel really guilty now that I did not manage to make your last meeting and I was looking forward to attending on the 29th.
As I have said in the past, when I have attended your meetings, thankyou for the hospitality extended to me and I look forward to seeing you at maybe another club meeting somewhere.

Best wishes to you both and to the guys, who you thanked for helping you with the club.

Sorry to hear that the Mid Anglia club is no longer viable.
It is a pity we have had a problem in getting sufficient numbers to attend.

I have had a great time meeting and playing with the regulars and would like to thank :
Ron and Angie for setting it all up ;
to Harry for all his diligent work providing and setting up the P.A. system and managing the playing lists
and to anybody who has played with me whilst I" Ventured" into alternative instrumental territory.
I have made some really good musical friends over the last few years and would like to thank them all for the encouragement I received following my heart attack and stroke incidents.
One particular highlight was teaming up and playing with Jim McLachlan, drummer from my old 60's group The McCoys, after an interval of 40 years.

Best wishes to you all
Brian

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, it means a lot.

Jimbo I think you have something in that we are not getting any younger and travelling is getting ever more expensive and in these trying financial times some things have to go.

Alan you will indeed see us at Scarbie next year, any idea where Ian is going to hold the "event of the year".

Regards to all
Ange & Ron

Hi Ron,
Sorry to hear that Mid Anglia is closing.
Next year's Scarborough Festival is in one of the Function Rooms (they've got two!) at Scarborough RUFC, Silver Royd, Scalby, Scarborough YO13 0NL. Saturday/Sunday 22/23 May 2010.
This newly-built (£4M!!) facility will be FAR easier to access than The Spa, has oodles of free parking, and is close to Scarborough's north-side Hotels, B&B's etc. See http://www.scarboroughrugby.co.ukfor more details. If you look at the "Calendar" section (May 2010), we even get a mention!
Looking forward to it!
Regards
Paul
