Cliff and the Shadows 1961 rehearsal
We all held converse in a rehearsal room on a wincingly cold morning, and their tiny hands were frozen: so were mine. Place a Methodist Chapel in Kentish Town with no central heating. (show page by Collie Knox Record Mail NME 1961 Annual

Kentish Town Chapel. Opened several centuries ago. Rebuilt several times. Replaced 1784. Became known as St John the Baptist Kentish Town parish church.

Indeed, Jim! Many, many thanks for sharing, Heinz. For a Shads fan who didn't make his first appearance in this world until 1982, these fabulous gems always make a great read!
Thank you.

Vikki Carr and Anneke Wills were also on the Jury with Hank and Bruce.

Magnifying glass required for this... !

I think I can remember seeing that edition of JBJ. I also recall Paul Jones taking part in it several times, including an occasion when he slagged off a Cliff Richard single (something he probably wouldn't have dione if Hank and Bruce were on the panel).

Andee Silver - there's a name from the past.

She was very young when she started in the business, probably about 15, if I recall correctly, when she got one of the featured vocalist jobs with the Joe Loss Orchestra, working alongside Ross McManus (Elvis Costello's dad), who was another of Joe's singers.

I always link mentally Andee with (singer/actress) Adrienne Posta, who had a similar show biz history.
