So is that it for Hank?

Postby hbmartin » 14 Oct 2013, 09:10

Oasis Music has for sale on its website a Shadows 50th Anniversary Strat stating it is one that was held back from the original issue for Hank to use if he ever performs again in the UK. Oasis say they have now been authorised to release it, so does this mean he will never perform in the UK again?

The Shadows 50th Anniversary Fender Stratocaster Limited Edition
Year of Manufacture - 2009
Serial Number - 53 of 54
Case - Tweed Hard Case and Accessories Included
Condition - Excellent This guitar is one of four which were not offered for sale and it has been in storage, with other equipment, since 2009 for Hank Marvin to use in the event of any further UK performances. It was fitted with the VML Total Tension system as per all of Hanks personal guitars. We have just been authorised to release it for sale. Some small signs of use were present, (no we can't say who has played it),and the guitar has been brought back to as new condition by Mark Presling of Fender GBI.
This guitar is consigned to us and the asking price is based on the provenance and the price achieved by recent sales of other guitars from this series.
Please email or call us on 01425 478135 for details.
Price: £10,000.00 (€12,000.00) (Including VAT at 20%)

Well seeing as Hank has done the Shadows final, & Cliff & The Shadows tour 50th anniversary farewell tours........................seems to me that's the end for formal tours. ;)

Probably the best you can hope for is if Hank ever decides to come over to promote an album or guest on a show somewhere

Never say never as they say (but don't hold your breath waiting)

Dick.

I have a Strat too that I kept just in case Hank ever wanted to use it - but he never did.
It has wear so someone played it sometime - but I don't know who.
Will that be worth £10000 quid too? ;) ;)
Ha ha - you couldn't make it up.

That one may not be the one for sale here

The article from the magazine about them says hank had 2, one went to Australia with him and the other was to stay with Brian Goode in case hank needed a guitar in the uk, see here

He definitely had one on the tour on his guitar rack but dont think he used it on stage, there was a rumour that he preferred the radius on his sig models at the time, perhaps Howard can tell us more ? ..............Gary
