Blackpool Shadows Club

Postby comic » 14 Oct 2013, 23:12

Hi All Just a reminder that the Blackpool Shadows club will have it's first meeting this Sunday the 20th October at the St Kentingerns Social Centre, Newton Drive Blackpool FY3 8BT
from 12 till 4pm. I am hoping for a good turn out especially from some ex- Shaddicts members. All being well we'll have Bass and drums for a live session.
Also backing track sessions, everyone is welcome to come and listen to the right notes being played, but not necesserily in the right order...only kidding!!
There is bar facilities and, hopefully, tea, coffee and biccies. There will be a small door charge for players to cover the cost of the room and bar staff.
The directions are: M55 to Junction 4, sliproad to roundabout, 3rd exit A583 Preston New Road to main traffic lights, go through first lights keeping right and turn right at second traffic lights onto Whitegate Drive,
continue till you come to the Crown Pub on the right, turn right onto Newton Drive, the club is about 200 yds on the right, there is a car park, or street parking opposit the club.
Please be aware Blackpool is the home of the 30mph speed camera, so take it easy.
Cheers

Congratulations Terry & Betty on the good turnout for your 1st Shadows club meeting. It was lovely seeing old friends & meeting new ones again. It was a good afternoon where people came to enjoy themselves along with the music. It was fun- not serious, and that is what these clubs are all about, a great community.
It was great to see Eddie R from Scotland, and we wish him & his family good health now.
Hope to see many more friends at the next meeting on the 17th November.
Well done Terry & Betty.

Thanks to Kevin and Brenda for your help in running the meeting, I'm very pleased everything went well.
It was nice to see a few folks from the old Shaddicts meetings from the past.
The sound in the hall was excellent.
Everyone enjoyed it and helped with the humping as well, (stop laughing at the back there).
Looking forward to the next meetiing.

Cheers

Hi All, I can only echo what Bren said above re the first meeting of the Blackpool Shadows Club. (Now whether that echo is a Meazzi, a Binson or a Watkins I havent a clue.............Hell, Im only a bass player  , struggle with anything that has more than 4 strings!!!!!LOL!!!!!

A couple of quick photos I snatched at the end of the meeting on the mobile, hence the poor quality, and we have a scratch band finishing the session off with Atlantis, with Kev on Rhythm, Dave on Bass, 'Rockin' John on the drums and Eddy all the way from Scotland on the lead........Well done guys!!

A massive thankyou to Terry and Betty for organising and running all of this and bringing the gear, thanks to John for dragging his drums from Chesterfield, thanks to Kevin and Brenda for all there assistance in running the show as well. Thankyou to all those fellow Shads fans from the North West area that turned out to join us. Must also briefly mention Tony Pye whom I had the pleasure of accompanying on The Stranger and Sleepwalk........very nicely played, Tony. Hi also to Shadows friends both, old and new great to catch up, hello to Alistair from Bolton, Frank, Dave Dixon, Mike & Jeannie, Mick Lang and others. Apologies I didnt get all the names. Lets do it all again on November 17th.

Cheers,
Mark. :D
