The framed photograph displays a cover page spread out, back and front , of Fender Sales Inc. product catalog 1958-59.
Look further for illustration in The Fender Book by Tony Bacon & Paul Day (Balafon Books 1992).

Also, illustrated in huge book by, Richard R. Smith : Fender The sound heard `round the world (Garfish Publ. Co /Music sales 1995) quote:
" The first full-color photograph of a custom-color Stratocaster - red with gold hardware - appeared on the bold cover of the 1958-59 Fender catalog (which set standards for the industry)".

Well.......unless the photo beside it is a picture of Hank playing a mandolin on the Apache session, I would think Bruce is correct.

So there is life still in this old site I'm pleased to say, over 800 viewers so far, just goes to show if you put up a interesting thread it gets read, I'll be back later with another little gem :D

If the photo is from the 58/59 Fender catalogue, where is the then new top of the range 1958/9 Jazzmaster with the gold anodised scratchplate?
