Out here in the colonies, The Keil Isles(featuring vocals by Herma Keil), who opened for the first Cliff and The Shadows tour in the 60's
released a vocal version of Apache on the Viking label. Not a great move, but I'll try to upload the track if anyone is interested.
Cheers,
JB

Thanks for the info, I never knew Cliff did a vocal version of FBI, and I guess it was done later than 1964 as Cliff didn't start wearing his hair forward until 1965, unless you guys know otherwise? My recollection was he changed his hair style after filming "wonderful life", am I right?

Hi John,
I would love to hear this vocal version. I am collecting vocal versions of Apache from all over the world. Up to now I could trace recordings in 9 different languages. In my opinion this speaks for the potential of the melody of Jerry Lordan's composition.
Best wishes,
Ulrich

The hair style did change a bit after Wonderful Life -- a bit sleeker and less quiffier. But the brushed forward style wasn't adopted until the second-half of 1965.

Cliff still had the Quiff style in Alladdin when I saw them in March 1965.
There was a part in a certain scene when Alladdin met the princess (Una Stubbs) who said, 'I have never seen a boy before, what funny short hair' and Cliff said, 'Well there are a few of us left'.
