Midnight Shadows

We would like to advise all of you who will remember, many we hope with fondness, the Bristol 'UPlay Hank' and UPlay Shadows' days that The Midnight Shadows have disbanded after 17 years together, and played our last ever gig last night at The Keynsham Royal British Legion to a capacity audience of mainly friends and family. We would just like to thank those on this site who have supported us, and our UPlay days, over the years. Our Facebook page will close in the New Year but we intend to keep our webpage open for now, where copies of our CD can still be downloaded for free, but of course it will no long be updated. Once again many thanks for your support.

Sorry to hear this news Dave.
Enjoyed seeing the Band playing at Jet's 65th Birthday Party in 2004.

Best wishes

I have many happy memories of the annual UPlay Shadows meetings at Bristol.

They were the first meetings that I had been to prior to the various Shadows clubs forming and the atmosphere at the Bristol meetings was so very friendly and welcoming.

Please give my regards to the rest of the group Dave.

We have been extremely lucky over the 17 years, and certainly during the period 2002 -2008 we were busy most weekends. Having had one of our guitarist pass away earlier this year, with three of us originals now all over 60 (Brian our bass player has played continually in various groups since the early 70's), the demise of many of the type of venue that we chose to play at (we have never, and never wanted, to play pubs) and humping what seems like tons of equipment up and down stairs at 1am and 2am we felt that time was right to call it a day. There is no doubt that the 'UPlay Hank' day was the for runner of many of to-days meetings and we are all pleased that they lead on to bigger things. Once again our thanks to everyone for their support over the years.

Hi Dave
Sorry to hear this news. I too was reunited with Shadowmusic when I attended Jet's 65th birthday bash and I attended many of the U-Play days subsequently. These were great meetings and the Bristol crowd so very friendly.
Please pass on my good wishes to the lads.

Well done David Holbrook. You've played an important role in reviving and revitalising our favourite music over the years. Don't blame you for this decision. There comes a time for everything!

All the best! Iain
