Gotta be worth the price? I've already got it or I'd be bidding...

That price is OK, even if the original 1976 release was sold at £2.

But don't go mad: it was been re-released on vinyl (UK Music for Pleasure) and on CD (Japanese Toshiba).

A real curio, this album. It reminds me of the first time I saw Cliff and the Shads live, in that same year. It's questionable whether the Shads minus Bruce really are the Shads, notwithstanding the great talent of Alan Hawkshaw.

I wasn't aware of the Japanese CD release. Do you have a photo?

I have seen the original Japanese LP version with gatefold sleeve, but haven't got that. Yet.

I have the same CD, does anyone have an English translation for the liner notes as i can't read Japanese!
And yes, it's not the best Shadows concert ever but does have a few tracks never presented anywhere else live (Exodus and Slaughter on tenth avenue) but does have a good version of Little B.

It's notable for the superb Bass Playing of John Rostill. It shows just what a player he was and how, despite the obvious talents of the Bass Players since 1969, just how much he would have contributed going forward.

Quite agree. I think whenever the Shadows had to replace somebody, they always brought in the best person they could for the needs of the time and John was just terrific. I am sure he would have contributed loads if he had had more time. Whether it would have been to the Shadows, however, is one of those unknown unknowns.

Try: http://www.malcolmcampbell.me.uk/japan/05/

The translation was made by London Shadows fan (and great player), Mike McWilliams.

Thanks.

The Live in Japan album is great; very poorly regarded in error. Everyone should at least give it a try if avoiding it on the strength of its reputaion...
