Shads on TOTP

What confusion an appearance by The Shads on TOTP has caused!!!!!

GF's only stage appearances were the Spring 1980 European tour, as far as I know.

I don't know if George did any one-off appearances with them beforehand but 1980 was certainly the only tour he did. Hank introduced him on stage at the time saying it was his first tour with the Shadows - and his last!

I stand corrected, George. I've just found the original tickets from Monday May 2nd 1977 (at £3 a ticket!). I'm afraid the old memory has let me down this time, but although the programme lists Alan Jones as the bass player, I'm sure that it wasn't him on that night.........Perhaps George was depping? Does anybody else remember that night, I wonder?
By the way, the keyboard player was Francis Monkman.

No problem, Pat! I dug out the details last night and saw that the 20GG tour had started in Bristol and thought it a bit odd if they had done a gig there 2 months before. Can't explain the bass player, though. And yes, that was FM's ill-fated tour with the Shads.
