At the risk of repeating myself - sod Lakeside.
Because I want to prevent any competition. The focus should be on enjoying the music, wherever it is being played. Also, the organisation of something like this (not to mention preparing a performance of my own) takes up enough of my time and energy. Unfortunately, to make sure I kept my head above water and didn't lose a colossal amount of money, I ended up being forced to compete. Combining the aggravation some people were giving me with the financial implications, the pressure of performing well and of providing an enjoyable experience for people who'd paid their hard-earned money towards my little project meant that I couldn't enjoy the organisational process as much as I should have. Both events should be successful without the organisers being given unnecessary stress. I hope Lakeside's event this year is a great success. I might even be there myself.
Next time, due to the way you all received last year's event and the speed at which word spread after such an enjoyable weekend, ShadowsFix should sell out with very little advertising. I hope.
In terms of timing, I'm aiming for June 2015. I'll start a new thread for people to give their thoughts on dates that suit. Whenever it is, you'll all have plenty of time to make your plans.
