What would be more fun is to have a list of guitarists who have almost, by their sheer mastery of a particular style, almost convinced others to put their axes in the bin
Albert Lee would be top of my list.

How could I forget to include Albert Lee, he's another who should have been on my list having watched him for years.
I have no doubt missed others, but my memory has suffered of late so I beg forgivness. ;)

A list like this is always good to spark a bit of debate.....
It was good to see Hank listed.... and to see a list that did not have all of the usual suspect's on it, but looked further afield and still included Hank.

One thing we will all agree on, is that we will never agree..... Hank himself probably want's to know why Django did not make it on to the list.....!!

Seems strange that Dave Edmunds never makes any of theses lists!

I agree with Dave. My list is identical to his with the addition (probably because I'm older) of Scotty Moore, Franny Beecher and Chuck berry.
In the early days - until Hank showed up! - these guys were my inspiration. Not forgetting Bert's "Play In A Day" book!

The guitarist who is most frequently ignored and is also the one who dozens of great guitarists refer to as being their
inspiration is Buddy Holly.

Nancy Wilson, along with sister Ann,formed the band Heart in the early '70s. Nancy is not only a multi-instrumentalist,she is a bloody excellent guitarist!
To date,Heart have sold over 35 million albums. That's probably a few more than Hank has sold!
In 2012 ,after 4 decades and various personal changes(but always fronted by the Wilson sisters) Heart were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

There is more to guitar based music than single note Hank style tunes

Wow! That's a corker of a statement. "single note Hank tunes"! Oh Boy!
Then what are you doing here?
I feel there will be tears before bedtime over your comment.

This thread was ridiculous from the start, it's just getting sillier now.
