I will be interested to learn what songs Cliff performs. Virtually no one here in the US knows the name "Sir Cliff Richard" but I have come across people who recognize a few of his songs if I play a few notes for them, ie "...It's so funny why we don't talk any more..." And, "...She's just a devil woman, with evil on her mind..." If Cliff sings either of those, then suddenly people will begin to recognize him. But, if he sings songs from his new album "Fabulous," they won't know who he is, but maybe they will like him any way, I hope. It would be a tough decision as to whether to sing "Wake Up Little Susie" or "Rip It Up" due to the recent passing of Phil Everly. It would be intended as a tribute, but I don't know if it would be received as such.
I was hoping that Cliff's working with Vince Gill in Nashville last year would have developed into something more than it did. They both sing gospel music and I think they would have been good together. Also, Barry Gibb is on a big tour...Cliff and Barry got on quite nicely when they worked together some years ago.
Sir Tom Jones is a household name here, so he will draw a crowd. I'm not sure, though, if Cliff and Tom are both on the same bill, or if Cliff is one night and Tom is another. I have always wanted to see Cliff, but this event will not work for me, financially and otherwise. I can only hope that he might come back to the US again some other time. Doubtful.
Cheers,
Donna
