Yes - I believe Ralph toured, as support act, with Albert and the Everly Brothers in the 80s.

Regards,
Phil

Ralph McTell has long been a J-45/J-50 man and in his early folk scene days often used a 1930s short scale (12 frets to the body) Roy Smeck stage deluxe.

I was very fortunate to get a returned ticket at 5.55pm - particularly as I'd travelled down from near Hitchin in Herts. Perhaps the Shads could have given me a lift!

This was the closest I'll ever get to to seeing them in a smaller venue like in the old days, tucked away in the corner of a stage, but with a good view!

I noticed how AL demonstrated that playing Apache and WL isn't as easy as Hank makes it look - but it sounded great and the Shads were completely faultless.

Enjoyed the other acts and great so see so many 60s stars that I hadn't yet seen - Joe Brown, Ralph Mc Tell...

So I wonder if there is anything else in the pipeline now we've seen that most of theme me can be scrambled at a moment's notice. Retirement doesn't have to mean stopping altogether. Perhaps there'll be a 55 years show after all :)
