Catalinbread Echorec

Postby asimmd » 14 Mar 2014, 13:12

Hi All

Just wondered if anyone was still using this echo.

I have read the threads on this and listened to Dave's demo's.

It got excellent reviews when it first came out.

Thanks

Alan

I think Dave is still using his with excellent results, I'm sure he'll post a reply.

I've tried it too and it's good... But not better than the valve EccaMatic...

Agreed! That said for a pedal of it's size, I haven't heard or seen anything to touch it and I'd put the eTap @ 100% and the Catalinbread @ 95% for Shadows tunes.

My late friend Jim Tully got one a short time ago and it wasn't bad, but Jim also had a genuine Binson and the difference was noticeable, especially in the warmth of the sound. I have built several etap2hws optimized according to Steve Mitchell's instructions and both Jim and I could not praise these units strongly enough, - they are superb.

Hi Didier

Thank you for the demo.

I have just listened to the original and to
my ears the Catalinbread is just about the same.

So pleased you posted it.

Is this the sound of the Echorec alone? What is the purpose of the Zoom pedal shown?

The Zoom MS50-G was used by Jean-Claude for some additional effects : a little EQ, compression and reverb.
