When I saw the date I thought it was an April 1 prank but it certainly is genuine.
I don't think that there is ever a chance that The Shads per se will make a studio album again.
Hanks solo career is just as valid, always top performances, and I'm looking forward to Summertime when we can enjoy The Stratmaster at work again.
As always, he won't please everyone with his tracks but you just know it's going to be a good 'un.

Cheers

Certainly, Leo's Den don't seem to have any information at present, not even the cover design!

The cover image is certainly... EYE CATCHING!!! It'll stand out on the shelves if nothing else, which is obviously the idea!

I've seen worse, 'Simply Shadows', for example, which just seemed to borrow both the red Strat from 'Moonlight Shadows' and the venetian blinds effect from 'Rockin With Curly Leads'. Odd.

The CD will be released by the DMG TV sub-label of the Demon Music Group, which is a BBC Worldwide company. Having this in mind it seems quite unlikely that it will be a compilation of previous released tracks (in my humble opinion).

Hank Plays Pet Sounds! now that would be something!

The Beach Boys track on the Summer Days Summer Nights album called 'Summer Means New Love' is quite similar to ' Spring Is Nearly Here' from three years earlier on Out Of The Shadows.

Why not ? I saw the Beach Boys at the Paris Olympia last summer, and although only two original members were there, their set was quite good ! ;)

The cover is worryingly awful - but then for me there haven't been enough good Shads/Hank cover designs - and maybe modern cover designers don't bother too much as they live with track downloads being the key thing. Our generation though saw and felt a link to covers - eg Abraxas

Covers I've really liked are maybe easier to think of than those I don't, as there aren't many - First LP of course, Dance With (why I don't know), first Hank LP, Shadow Music, Words and Music, Up Your Street, MWF, Change of Address, Steppin', Diamonds (Pickwick CD), Into the Light, Guitar Player ( so maybe there are a few more good 'uns than I'd thought!?).

There have been some real stinkers I think - Jigsaw, Sound of, Hank Plays Live, Heartbeat, Plays Cliff etc - so many better pics to choose from especially for Heartbeat, Cliff.

What do others think?

Whats all this moaning about the sleeve - again?
Are we all art critics all of a sudden?
They could put it in a plain sleeve for me.
I'm paying for the Music inside.
We should be jolly thankful that Hank thinks enough of his fan base to WANT to record some Strat tracks.
