After Marvin, Welch and Farrar, which was tremendous, it was a backward step for me.

Theres something good to be found on every album, with albums being released the past 50 yrs it usually marked a time in your life when a new one came along, Just like the early stuff brings a lot of folk back to being a teenager,If you still look forward then youre still young.A new album is a new chapter for the fans. bring it on Hank..bring it on...........regards Gary

It's still the eponymous first album for me. We (The Niteshades) will be playing three tracks from that album at Sunday's Pipeline.

Very few Shads/Hank albums do it for me all the way through - 1st one (except Desire!), Dance With and Plays Holly (very underrated I think). Don't even like a lot of Curly Leads - the guitar sound was too aggressive - unlike others I particularly dislike Years Away and Gracie. Humbucker showed the way to go maybe?

All really a matter of opinion isn't it!?

Will we need to rig up a CD player or a turntable on the PA?

This is a bit like when a controversial new film comes out, and people start saying 'it should be banned!'

Then someone says 'have you seen it then?'

'Errr, no, not yet...'

Patience everybody please! ;)

Thank you John, some sense at last. Lets hear the album and then make a comment on it. Me personally, I'm looking forward to June 2nd when I get my copy.

Jim ;)

If you mean "Summer Holiday" Hank did a rather dreary version on "Hank Plays Cliff".
Or is it another Summer title?
Gizza cloo :D

Yes; the theme song to that most splendiferous film was on my mind when I wrote the last message! I had a feeling that he MIGHT have 'covered' it on the 'Hank Plays Cliff' album. Still, no reason why he couldn't have done it again in a different way - as he did with Windmills of My Mind, for example. I'm sure that Brian and Bruce would have approved!!

Really?

It was one of the first Shadows albums I ever heard (got it for Christmas 1978) and I was immediately 'blown away' by it! I think it was sheer power of it that excited me and I actually found the sleeve imagery very intriguing too. Still one of my fave albums of all time from ANY artist. Never tire of listening to it...
