French video.......

Postby ecca » 19 Apr 2014, 09:53

If I was contemplating doing a music video along the lines of Danny Boy and Waltzing Matilda but French..........

Which tune might it be and how many of my pals in France would be willing to take part in doing some filming and playing ?

Do you mean a French tune?

Like say, 'C'est si bon' or 'Boum'?

Or summat like Minor Swing, where you wear a beret and play a Maccaferri Selmer- like a Django wannabee?

Must admit, when I saw the title of this thread, I got interested.....that sort of thing was naughty in my younger days..

In my opinion, these were some of the worst recordings by Cliff and the Shads !

Better play "Let it be me" (originally "Je t'appartiens" by Gilbert Bécaud) or "My way" (originally "Comme d'habitude" by Claude François), both french compositions. If some french players would be needed, there are many talented ones (not myself) on our french Shadows forum who could do it. The only problem is the language barrier, but I could help for that !

Here is an example of what has been done on the other side of the Channel by the "Virtual Shadows Tribute", each player recorded its part in different parts of the country and never played together !

Didier - that looks great.
Ask em for me .
Got to be a proper French tune though...... not a Shadows tune.
How about " Tous Les Visages de l'amour " by Charles Aznavour ( She)
I have a decent BT for that - but it's in Db.

Of course I'm not French, but to me the most typical French songs would be some older chansons, preferably by Edith Piaf, for example La Vie en Rose, Non, je ne regrette rien, or Milord . . . or songs like Under Paris Skies, or Under the Bridges of Paris . . .

Alternatively, Offenbach's Can-Can would do nicely, n'est-ce pas? ;)

Here is one, "Hymne à l'amour" : https://app.box.com/s/hj735n6u0qyhudgp8cng

It's played by Christian Pradalié, a member of our Frenche Shadows' forum, who most of the time plays bass, but also plays the 6 strings...
