Reaper DAW

Postby Detailed Infinity » 08 May 2014, 23:57

A few weeks ago on another thread a member mentioned a digital audio workstation preference and I came in with Reaper. Ever since the dawn of time I've used Sony for mixing and beat mapping multi-track production of music until I wasn't prepared to pay hundreds of pounds for 64 bit upgrades. Some of us can say well I know this pro who told me this and I know him and so on but I really was told by an American guy (Solaris of Acid Planet) to start with Reaper. Now I'm talking about multi-tracking here not simply laying a B/T down and playing a guitar making two tracks you can use Audacity for that--something of which is of no use to me as a recording programme.

Now this guy is a serious home music producer and he's giving you a 32 minute opinion on the merits of this particular programme. It's a long detailed speech aimed at the serious music producer so if you're interested then hear him out. Don't get cracked versions of Adobe Audition; Cubase or Pro tools. Do the right thing and hear the guy out. $64 it's a no brainer !!!

PS You'll catch a glimpse of a GUI skin by Solaris as the various skins are scrolled through. Click the You Tube logo to watch full screen in YouTube home page.

Robby to call a commercial programme as having been 'cracked' is to say that is has been subjected to illegal massaging by hackers which allows it to be used for free. You Tube is awash with such stuff and to shoot myself in the foot here's a prime example of Reaper being cracked and all for the sake of paying 60 dollars.

D/loading like this inserts malware or at best sends a signal to the manufacturers that the cracked programme is being used and logs your ISPN.

Reaper is indeed a fantastic - and very attractive for the price - piece of software. When I upgraded my recording system last year I seriously considered going with Reaper just to save money (and support them as developers) but, after I tried it for the evaluation period, I decided I was just too familiar with Cubase and the overhead of learning a new interface was slowing me down.

For anyone looking to get a new DAW I'd thoroughly recommend trying the (free) evaluation version and giving it serious consideration.
