From Hank, Bruce, Brian & John

I was on Ebay earlier and noticed this odd listing for the aforementioned album.
I've never seen that Columbia label, it says its a UK pressing, i have the same album on vinyl and its the blue/black label.
The seller also says its in mono when the record label states stereo, its this an overseas copy or some kind of rarity as it's quite pricey.

Can you give the item number or the URL of the listing you are referring to? There are too many of this LP currently on eBay.

It's Columbia, with what looks like the correct UK sleeve (no "The Shadows" insert as found on certain overseas versions), but it's a stereo pressing and sleeve, whereas the advert is for a mono pressing.

But the (blue) label bears the serialisation "SCXJ", which indicates Australian origin.

I thought that J was South Africa, but must admit on the releases I have the J is the first letter.

Hi all,

It is definitely a South African pressing.

Dave, you are correct with mono releases, which have JSX as prefix, but the stereo ones have SCXJ.

Jim, Australian pressings have OSX (mono) or SCXO (stereo) as prefix.

To complete the list of countries with letters added to the prefix, MSX/SCXM is New Zealand.

Best wishes,

Ulrich
