I am very pleased to be able to tell you that Hank will be talking to Jools about the Shads and playing LIVE. He will be using "Oasis Strat" CRS 59 number 53 which I handed over to Alan Rogan yesterday. When Hank leaves the UK it will come back to the shop.
I don't know what he will play but I think it will be a unique performance.

Howard.

Hank is also due to appear on BBC BREAKFAST on THURSDAY 29th - any time between 06.30 and 09.00. :( Looks like I'll be setting the alarm clock for that!!! ;)

Interesting thread here................

Seems that almost all of the music played on Jool's show is rubbish according to the majority here. :?

I watch it every week & also the rerun on Friday that has an extra 20 mins or so of music.
Some of the bands/artists music is not to my taste & some is.
I never describe some music as rubbish just because I don't happen to like it & more so because of the way that they play.
Those of us of a certain age will remember all the bigotry & distain that the arrival of R@R caused as well as the "instrumental group" The singing group/Rock Group/heavy/punk/new wave/electro/funk/disco etc.... etc......

Hank has his own agenda these days & I will watch to see if he does/does not play anything with keen interest as well as looking forward to the other members of the bill who I may enjoy or be bored by ;) .

This is just about the only new music programme today & it should be cherished for what it is giving exposure to new/upcoming artists as well as established & "legends" as well.
For an example of this scroll back a couple of weeks to Engelbert Humperdinck's appearance on the show ...............just class 8-)

I know this is a Shadows site but there is other music out there folks

Dick.

I know that Howard has said that Hank is playing a track on Jools - but I'm thinking if this is right, it may be on the full show on Friday, rather than the shortened show tonight. The trailers online seem to suggest he will be joining Jools at the piano - but they don't make any mention of him playing...

I guess we'll know soon enough (though tonight's show isn't on until 23.50 here in Northern Ireland, unfortunately!!)

I may be getting old but beyond Hank and Imelda May i've never heard of any of these groups on the show!
There was a compilation of guitar heros that have played on Jools Holland (Pete Townsend, Jimmy Page etc) and that was worth watching.

I was intrigued by this group on "Later..." a year or two back. This is a great song (with some great playing):

I've just realised that the performance of Tiger Phone Card by Dengue Fever I cited above is a different version from the one I recorded off-air that week. The camera angles are all completely different, the performance is (slightly) different and in the one I linked to above, there's no false start (there was one on the other version).

Everything falls into place: each iteration of a particular week's "Later with Jools Holland" is a separate event. Counter-intuitive, but it's definitely different.
