A good time to dig out the old Shads track "Snap, crackle and how's your Dad"?

How can he look that good at 8.30 in the morning! A massive plug for his album. Never seen the BBC display an album cover so big for so long on the screen. Cant wait to get my copy next week.

Hank mentioned about George Harrison once saying they should do vocals instead. Sure it wasn't sabotage? as they were generally more successful with instrumentals. It's a good thing they didn't take his advice.

I do not think the Shadows would have been a strong vocal group. Nice harmonies but not distinctive voices. I also felt their songs were a bit too middle of the road compared to what else was around. Funnily enough last week I was listening to an album of Eric Clapton and JJ Kale - The road to Escondido - and thought how many of the songs were suitable for the Shadows but had a bit more umph. Their backing vocals were good with Cliff who else could have been involved in the band. Sting on bass and vocals!

Thanks for posting that link, Kurt!

I missed the actual transmission this morning. The Beeb, I think, did Hank (and us!) proud with an interesting interview - far better than the rather poor effort by Jools Holland earlier in the week.
Like others, I'm really looking forward to receiving my pre-ordered copy of Hank's new CD in the next few days.

Regards
Paul.

...The usual questions though; I bet he gets sick of saying the same things again and again and again! I bet if you look back at the last time he was on the show (2007 ??) he was probably asked more or less the same questions then. Still, what do I expect?

Yes, Hank looks remarkable for his age ( ) even at such an ungodly hour!

I thought the best bit was the editor's seamless editing between two different versions of Apache. Seemed spot on to me.

Well done Hank. Top ten album again soon?

I was thinking the same thing, he must be sick of telling that story about how he got the Strat but like a true pro, he'll tell you!
