Good article but no modern day pic of Hank and certainly none of the 59.
Still, every plug is a good plug

I thought it was a very good article.
I went out and got the Daily Express especially!
The only bit that was wrong, not three. Actually, the Shadows had five number ones.
Other than that, a great piece and write up.

Keith
The picture in the Scottish Daily Express I'd say dates from around Hank plays Cliff time as he has
one of his own Signature Models with the black bone nut.
He looks a bit younger too!!!

Whilst the article is welcomed, once again, the detail goes awry. This time in the paragraph about how the Drifters were formed the writer merely states that "a bass player and drummer were recruited". That's it then! Jet Harris and Tony Meehan were mere anonymous details, all rather pathetic as a piece of reporting about a major group.

Although to be fair, it's perfectly true. The piece is primarily about Hank with reference to Cliff and Bruce. The first bass player and drummer to be 'recruited' were Sammy Samwell and Terry Smart. Jet and Tony soon took over but they lasted only some 3 years, before Brian, Licorice and then John - and it's the Rostill line-up that's pictured. An awful lot to explain if you start mentioning other names! :)

Unfortunately the Shadows as were are not a big general news topic. Most youngsters would now not know who the Beatles were and would not know the members. The Shadows have a wonderful history but it is irrelevant to most and the people who know of the Shadows already know the history so they probably don't know who Bruce Whatshisname is either. Sorry to jest but we are old anoraks . I even know the number of the Flying Scotsman as do many of the members. Most 10 years younger than me have only seen a steam train on old films
