New massive Hank Marvin interview

Postby honkytonkhero » 11 Jun 2014, 11:26

I just did a massive interview (6000 words) with Hank Marvin which I though might be of interest to you. We talked about everything from Django Reinhardt to Jerry Lee Lewis, from Cliff & Hanks 'Throw Down A Line' single to his latest album to the dawn of The Shadows. Hope you enjoy: http://www.theartsdesk.com/new-music/th ... ank-marvin

If you like it, please spread the word. We writers live by our 'hits' these days!

Thomas - there is a separate thread on it here already (Hank at the Arts desk). It is a first rate interview - venturing off well trodden paths, so well done. He seemed relaxed and open to all sorts of questions and, as you said, an impressive memory for detail.

Many thanks

It would be interesting to know if the tape of Ernie Shear playing lead guitar on "Living Loving Doll" still exists .Buddy Holly did a similar thing with "Rock Around with Ollie Vee" on the version which was released as single had his own backing musicians on it,the other version had session musicians playing on it including Boots Randolf on saxaphone.

Great interview, Tom. It's good to hear Hank talking about various aspects of his career - his songwriting, for example - instead of the whole Fender Strat, 'that sound' thing, and - latterly - the "where is the original Strat now?" stuff that you usually get in interviews. You sound like a real fan with a good knowledge of Hank's 56 years in the business!
