On the left is the Echomatic's previous condition having been stored for most of its life in an attic. On the right after a clean and some TLC, the unit is functional to a degree, and has had some work done but requires further tweaking to bring her up to speed. As is known this a Model J circa 59/60 which is a transitional model between the Model F and Model 2, This Wheel echo having characteristics of both machines.

James

As far as I know, no change it's one of Hank's.
The story goes,Dick Denney throwned all 3 of Hank's unit's into a pit in the groud, in some backyard and build a shed/garage on it.... :( :o
Because he was so sick and tired of the trouble maker machines....

Hi James
Thanks for posting further details.
From the pic on the left I have to assume that the uncovered Echomatic is the exact one of which we've had a picture for years (I've had that pic for 5, 6 - maybe even 10 years). Amazing!

Very nice but I thought we'd found the Holy Grail with Eric Thacker's eTAP HW unit with valve pre-amp. People said that 'look no further, this is the one'. Perhaps the wind's changed direction

The Etap with valve pre amp has moved on quite a bit now

BUT this Meazzi is the real thing.

Get a vintage spec Strat, this Echo & a vintage Vox amp (not forgetting the wooden chair for the Meazzi to sit on) ......plug in & play & that will be "the holy grail" or "that sound" or whatever you want to call it.

Modern machines have to work very hard to get all the nuances of these echo's with all their colouration & mechanical artifacts, even the hi tech TVS3 cannot quite nail "that sound" although it is very close

Then there's Charlie Hall's new echo box coming soon that sounds very promising

Fascinating 8-)

Dick.
