Sales of the album were actually up slightly in the second week -- 12,262 versus 12,037. Two-week cumulative is 24,299.

I've still not heard it but I feel I know what to expect as it's a continuation of where Hank's been heading with the Strat.

If he's enjoying those kind of arrangements and if the public have made it a top ten album then surely that's good all round isn't it?

'Summertime' is surely one of the all time great compositions? Simple does not mean bad ( as all Shads fans surely testify to).

The context was, I thought, fairly clear.

Harmonically, Summertime nowhere near the standard of the best of Gershwin's output. It's probably the nearest thing he ever wrote to a rock and roll song, even if it did originate in an opera.

Had a listen to a borrowed copy of the "Hank" CD in the car on the way home from my Guitar Club (whilst still buzzing from a good acoustic session). I was very disappointed with 'Hank'. Might be OK for a fastidious collector, but I found it lacked oomph, the backing somewhat over produced and many of the "intros" were tediously longwinded. Sorry - but I didnt like it!!
