I bought a Tele copy off ebay for £19.99 an unmarked Alba one.

Great guitar Ecca has it now!

There was also a music shop in Shirley Solihull selling cheap strats and the
feedback from customers was very good!

Hi Ron,
Yes, I did buy two of the guitars actually. Very good value and they play well and sound good. I think I had one as my stage spare last time we played together. I paid £28 each plus £16.50 p&p from Germany. Must say, though, that they needed a fair amount of setting up first which was OK for me because I do all that myself but not so good if you have to pay someone to do it for you. (deepen nut slots, adjust truss rod, neck shim, tremolo adjust, saddle height, pickup height, intonation etc.)
It was also me who posted the thread some time ago about how low would you go. I also posted a soundfile at the time of wonderful land using one of the cheap guitars, a cheap amp and cheap echo. Not the holy grail but a very passable sound for a total cost of about £100 for guitar, amp and echo.
The guitars came from OTC shop, as Rover mentioned, and I was going to order one for someone else in July but OTC were no longer listed as an ebay shop. I emailed them and got an automated reply saying they were on holiday and would be back in August. I then got another email in August saying they were having technical problems with ebay. That was the last I heard. I tried a Google search for OTC and their import/export agents, MGE. No results for either.
Regards, Dave

Rover

I have been seeing such offers for a long time on eBay, with more or less choice depending on time, but I don't know anyone who bought one, so I have no information about their quality. As a consequence, buying one will be a gamble...

Hi everyone,........thanks for your comments and I hope I have warned a few of Bazaar of China..........we all learn the hard way some times and it looks like I was not the only one conned.........I have forwarded all correspondence to Paypal hoping they still may help or at least investigate this place in China.........mind you seeing that I will be stuck with this guitar I decided to check it out..........after fitting a new nut.instead of the plastic one fitted, new set of strings and a set up the guitar is not bad at all..........the humbucker in the bridge position is a bit different for me but sound is not too bad.........will do for a practice guitar.

My friend bought his guitars from 2 places Trade Tang and DHGate.........in both cases he dealt direct with the seller and was/is very pleased with his 2 Gibson Les Pauls and his Fender Strat.

Hi
Unlike Amanda my browser loaded the site OK, but did you notice how the picture had been "doctored" in a paint program ? You could clearly see where the erazer tool had been round the edges of the guitar. That picture had been nicked from somewhere else and was not a true representation of what you were getting. That would put me off straight away !

Hi everyone...........well the final word from Paypal is that they cannot do anything as the item is bought outside Ebay..........within Ebay I might have had some comeback as they have control over who sells what to a certain degree. But in this case they have washed their hands of it completely and basically said well you ordered a guitar and received a guitar..end of story. And doesnt our little friend in China know that.
Fortuneately the guitar I received has come up not too bad with a new nut, setup etc so not a total loss..........but that HM lookalike would have been nice

There's maybe a lesson to be learned here. If you are serious about your hobby, & you want the best available instrument in your price range, don't believe you can cut corners & get what you want for virtually nothing. There are too many of these Rip-off merchants on the internet just looking for suckers. Try before you buy.

Tony.

I think that you're right Tony.

Many of the offers around seem too good to be true (and probably are!).
