I think it's a slow grower and I now like a different set of tracks than before eg I Can See Clearly Now is getting played a lot more, despite the acoustic squeaks.

Don't think it's rise and fall in the charts is at all surprising these days, but it is very surprising to see it there at all.

People of a certain undefinable 'younger' age just don't know who this 'Hank' is - not least because they never seem to collect 'accidental' knowledge about anything they or their peer group are not interested in in the first place, as they don't browse newspapers and watch TV news etc (too boring!).TV shows like Pointless prove that conclusively.

I think most of the base material was fine and Hank's playing is great.

I was very disappointed with 'Hank'. Might be OK for a fastidious collector, but I found it lacked oomph, the backing somewhat over produced and many of the "intros" were tediously longwinded. Sorry - but I didnt like it!!

Yes I agree- you can't imagine 'Walk Don't Run' or 'Ghost Riders' with long orchestral intros.

The 'Ghosts' trumpet reminded a bit of a spaghetti western and the 'Walk Dont Run' I didn't catch the melody at all!

Actually, listening to the CD whilst out walking the dog early this morning the whole thing sounded a lot, lot better! I think sitting down and listening to the tracks and seeing the title one tends to have preconceived ideas of how the thing should sound- with inevitable 'disappointment'. Certainly Hank's playing is very good and the intros/backing don't intrude as much as you've no idea what's coming up.
