Hank's Django's Castle

Postby dave robinson » 01 Aug 2014, 15:03

As much as I'm not keen on his latest commercial effort 'HANK', I do enjoy listening to Django's Castle and so does the other half . . . . funny old world innit ?
I just wondered if others shared similar views. :)

I do as well - I think it's brilliant. Never thought I would like this type of music!

Hi dave,

I really enjoy the "Django's Castle" album which is great, but I also like most of the tracks (and arrangements including "Summertime") of "HANK", except "Good Day Sunshine" I don't like too much.
My only regret is that I would have wish to listen to more original tunes, but I know about business...

Regards

Pierre

Will not be buying it unless it appears on physical CD which appears unlikely.

Like Django Reinhardt music and also Martin Taylor's Spirit of Django but there is something really different about Django's Castle and I find it hard to stop listening to it!! Hank has surpassed himself on this one

Loved it! The arrangements, playing, overall sound was fantastic. Downloaded it and proudly sits with other modern gypsy jazz greats...John Jorgenson, Robin Nolan etc.

I bought Hank's Django CD and love it. To me it really comes across that he enjoyed playing this music and the freedom it offers him as a jazz guitarist.

Well I downloaded it and made my own CD. I asked for opinions because as soon as I heard it I was blown away with how fresh it was and it really is a good listen. I'd read all the grumbles about not been available on CD but can't for the life of me think why folks would cut off their noses to spite their faces to prove a point. Thanks for your replies. :)
