I wasnt sure at first so I compared it to hardcore gypsy jazz stuff that Im not familiar with either, I found it easy on the ear with not too over complicated arrangements,Hanks own technique shines through combined with a good overall production that makes this a great album and and the perfect introduction to a guitar style that folks like myself are not used to.Theres an element of chill in this as the average Hank fan wont be listening to echoes/pickups and that sort of stuff and can finally get on with listening to music,whatever form it takes. regards Gary

I think DC is a great album - brilliant arrangements and well played. Still can't understand why a classical label didn't put it out as it would have sold more than their usual product.

By the way I noticed Hank uses Bennett PR - any connection there?

I admire the D'sC music a lot, but in truth it has been merged into iPod playlists that I use for background music eg 'acoustic guitar' - which includes some HBM, Shads, Mirage, Chet etc . The only track I actually choose to play is the title track itself which I really like - but arguably is the least jazzy?

'Hank' continues to surprise - now playing the tracks more that I didn't like at first - except 'Sealed' - and 'Clearly Now' is very oddly at the top of the 'most played' tracks' from the CD.

My 'best of Hank' playlist from all the years since 69 therefore only includes the DC title track.

Just a heathen I guess.

I agree Fenderman, I will not be buying it either unless it ever comes out on CD.
I don't trust downloads anyway, it takes your money but you cannot always find it anywhere on the computer with computers being very complex and not user friendly. Life was easier before we had them in a lot of ways, and cheaper.

Are you kidding, Paul?! The computer (specifically the Internet) has totally demolished the sky-high, rigidly maintained retail prices of just a few decades ago! Or aren't you old enough to remember those days?

Love my iPod and downloads and it's so easy really - just what I have always wanted enabling specialised playlists galore - 6000 tracks on mine and counting, with loads of downloads purchased - which I back up twice off line so are always safely kept. Prefer to have CD's for real favourites like Shads etc but only really so the CD shelf looks complete!

I can hear Hank's jazz material on YouTube anyway, there's a few tracks on there and it's pretty good, it shows how versatile he is and not just 'the guy with the red strat'.

The retail prices might have been higher but there wasn't the expense of buying a computer or upgrading afterwards plus other things and no Broadband expense.

Plus we have access to more music than ever, the opportunity to listen before deciding to buy, the opportunity to download to multiple devices so that you can listen to your music anywhere, the opportunity to watch an amazing range of video clips for free etc. etc. There has never been a better time for music lovers than right now.

I like it and know that I haven't a hope in Hades of eever being able to play any of it.
Its great music, at times overly complex ( just IMOI) but that's just the nature of the Style.
Burned my own CD for in-car use.
