Not sure about this...

Just seen this on ebay. The photo looks to be from the mid to late Sixties, so definitely some considerable time AFTER they became The SHADOWS!!!

The description on eBay is definitely not correct or at least misleading. The signature is a quite early one of Bruce, but the picture originates from the 29. April 1967 issue of the NME.

Maybe the seller would be better off either not putting an irrelevant picture with it or finding one from the correct era? A better scan of the autograph would help too!!!

Told her it was confusing she states the autograph was collected at a Birmingham show and is on a pink piece of paper separate to the photograph . I Agee that one of the early and original line up would be more appropriate

Maybe she thought the 'Hairy Hank' look would be more inkeeping with the general 'vision' of them, but I agree, an odd choice, perhaps...

Thanks for that. Hmmm; don't see Anneke Wills in the photo though...

Some more info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Faceless_Ones
about the Doctor Who story that was being shown at 5.15. Anneke Wills was in the process of leaving the series at this point. 'The Faceless Ones' is her final story.

Such a shame that so few Anneke Wills' Doctor Who stories are known to exist... I'm aware that I'm veering off topic here, so I shall effortlessly steer back, by positing the question: In the very first episode of this long-running series, was "John Smith and the Common Men", which granddaughter Susan listens to, inspired by The Shadows? It seems eminently plausible to me...

I would think that highly likely.

As for Anneke's Doctor Who stories; I'm sure more will turn up!!! (below; Anneke and Drak a few years ago!!!)
