[quote="bor64"]Where's my new anorak i just bought at C&A.... quote]

This is a fascinating thread but I have to point out a glaring historical inaccuracy over clothing, and I'm not referring to Bruce's trousers. I should like bor64 to explain how he can have "just bought" an anorak at a chain of stores that disappeared from the High Street several years ago

Alan,

May I post the picture from the sheet music on our musical company's profile? Ours is not a a detailed site, but had some bits of information intended to get people interested in the Shadows and very early 60s music era. That picture will be very interesting to Shadows fans here too.

By the way, thank you for starting this thread, which has sparked the separate threads on overdubbing, rhythm guitars, etc. All quite fascinating (cost a lot of man-hours at work!).

Regards from Manila.

Feel free Andy  I knew that Rob's topics were worthy of separate threads due to the content. :D

I "lost" this post so I started another one Re: the cover photo on the sheet music to "Quatermassters Stores". Take a look at the excellent cleaned up one from UlrichS. The guy in the background between Jet and Norrie (?) looks like Brian Bennett to me. So the pic would be after October 1961 when Tony left! It seems odd, but the hair and the ears look right for Brian! ;) Anyone else think so?

How could you print a picture on a sheet music publication which came out in the summer of 1960 when Brian hadn't joined the band? ;) There are a number of early pics where they both look similar (Tony and Brian), but because of the timeline of the pic, it can only be Tony.

Alan, I think you can also reverse that point - it may be that the photo on the sheet music is a later reprint from a later studio session. We know that the sheet music was originally published in 1960 but we DON'T know when that particular issue was printed. It still looks very much like Brian to me! His ears and hairline!
Back to the amps - my earliest leaflets, catalogues and prices for JMI/Vox are from 1960 and don't include AC30s. The 'largest' amp listed is the Bass AC30 which says "4 inputs, 15 watt output" :?: . Mind you, this is in a "Musicland" Vox leaflet. They were at 88 Broadway, Bexleyheath and were owned/run by none other than Paul Raymond ! Does that name sound familiar to anyone? Was he into music before finding his niche in an area that generated MUCH more money?
Cheers, Lionel
