I also hear compression all over the MW&F stuff.

Try playing the guitar fills for Lady of The Morning without a bit of compression!

Truth is if you can hear compression, it is being misused, it's not an effect. 8-)
That said, using a Vox AC30 Top Boost would always give a compressed sound when driven using the bass & treble controls.

Yes he is, he and his wife Jacqui work as a musical double act, I believe The Rockettes. 8-)
