Dan tells me he carries the Etap2hw pedal on country gigs as he often gets asked for Apache. :)

One of the few "computer speak" words that actually means anything is G.I.G.O..................(Garbage in Garbage out)

Which fits in rather nicely with your comment Martin.

On Duane Eddy's last UK tour (2 years ago) the man had only a pre amp pedal (dyno brain) & a Dunlop tremolo pedal feeding his (twin channel) Fender Amps & sounded great.
The 2 two sound guys were sat at their desk watching the show like everyone else as Duane controlled his sound from his Gretsch

Definitely a 75%

The up and coming country singer said to Chet Atkins "Gee Chet, that Country Gentleman sounds amazing" to which Chet nodded towards the guitar on it's stand and replied "Yeah ? so how's it sounding now".

Which sums it up really. ;)

If I had Dan's set up I still wouldn't sound like Hank! Come to think of it I wouldn't sound like Dan either!

Very interesting discussion, especially considering the arguments I had with fellow band members around 1963 who demanded that I buy an Echolette echo and an Echolette amp - which I never did of course! I ended up with a souped up Selmer Selectortone amp running through 2 Celestion Blue speakers with no echo - the blues had arrived!!

Something I have learned very expensive mistake. I have tried every echo machine, amp, amp modeller, guitar etc etc. I always sound the same regardless, just listen to the various videos I've posted on YouTube. i guess it's just the joy of the hobby the latest piece of kit etc. At the end of the day unless you have a really bad guitar or amp etc your sound won't be bad, it may not be what you want to hear but you will have your own signature sound

On the other hand put Dan on some fairly basic equipment and he would still sound better than me on his kit. Percentages don't matter it's Synergy one working with the other to produce a bigger thing. What I need is Synergy talent and every bit of kit ever made and don't forget the luck and all sorts of other things. Still I am happy plodding along in my own way and still get excited when I achieve something new
