To Derek and Hans

Thank you Derek for the Translation of Hans`comment.
Your comment Derek was spot on, that is really what matters.
and to Hans. Certainly it is nice and exciting to travel along the Quest for THAT SOUND and a decent close to shadows sound is fine, if you have achieved it. BUT: It is all in your ears and mind, when to stop. And even with the best gear you will not exactly sound like the recorded Versions of the originals; albeit if you look at the life mixing desks of the Sound engineers and all Equipment fine tuned by the technicians. (as shown in the footage of the DVD from the last reunion tour with Cliff)

So I still believe we followers should and must Focus on making Music and get most sastisfaction out of it.

Best

The enjoyment of the music and taking part is paramount ! :)

I think for me it was because that early sound was so different and head turning, I had a desire to want to emulate it so that I heard it every time we played, so anything that didn't match it became unacceptable to my ears, simply because it didn't hold the same excitment. There's nothing wrong with wanting to get as close as possible but one has to realise that Hank's contribution was massive in his interpretation of the material he was playing and indeed a lot of people have all the right gear but lack that 'touch' to make it fit into place. I blame myself for being mis-led at the turn of the millennium by people that thought they knew what they were talking about. When I listen back to my work before that point, I'm amazed that I had the sound already and foolishly spent a lot of money and lost it. No worries though now, all of that has been kicked into touch and it's back, at very little cost in comparison. I'm once again enjoying my music and will be happy to help anyone achieve similar satisfaction where possible. :)

In Derek's posting he mentioned that Daniel Martin will be playing with Brian "Licorice" Locking and The Local Heroes ( Alan Jones, Cliff Hall, Clem Cattini, Barry Gibson & Daniel Martin) at the Surrey Shadows Club's sell out big event on the 21st November. We are all at SSC looking forward to seeing this show, as mentioned in our attached October Newsletter.

Cheers,
