One Track Mind App

Postby Geoff_W » 13 Oct 2014, 22:31

Hi all
I've been using this app on my ipad for sometime to play backing tracks but since I've upgraded the operating system to ios8 it will only work in portrait. As soon as I turn the ipad the app closes. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just me?
Cheers

As I understand it, Geoff, the app isn't compatible with iOS8 and there is no upgrade planned.

I use my iPad such a lot for my music, both home and gigs, that I've decided not to upgrade and just keep it as it is for now. The final straw for me was when my Alesis iODock, costing £135, failed to work after an iOS upgrade and Alesis told me there was no workaround, other than to buy the latest, compatible iODock.

Mine too, is there any way of going back to the previous operating system? I'm considering demanding a refund from Apple under the 'Not Fit For Use' rules unless they can sort it. That App for my work was the reason for buying my iPad.
I upgraded to ISO8 but the Alesis still works, it's just the App that doesn't.

If you have a backup of the device when it was running iOS 7 you can restore that and get back.

If not, I'd ask the nearest Apple Store...

Interestingly One track mind is working on my iPhone 5s on ios8 perfectly well but crashes on my iPad on Ios8. I contacted the App developer and he has said that he will update the app for IOS 8. The app is free and is something the developer does in his freetime, so it might be a wait until it appears. A very good alternative is another app called One track http://seanbergin.com/OneTrack/OneTrack.html it's not yet optimised for IPad but I've found it works fine on mine. It's not free but it has some very good features that one track mind doesn't, it is also regularly updated by the developer. If you want to download it follow the App Store link on the website. There is also Stagetraxx but it's one that suits me less.

If you are open to trying another app, Stage Traxx is well worth looking at!

http://fieryapps.com/stagetraxx.html

There was a minor problem with IOS 8 and the keyboard popping up, but the developer gave me an immediate work around and updated the program within a few days, I have found this is ideal for club use (it was purchased specifically for this). It has play lists, pre-queing, lyrics (if available) and configurable options so that a track play button can't be accidentally touched whilst playing.

On the website is a video that shows functionality!

Just going slightly off at a tangent, for anyone using the iPad for their music, I replaced my Alesis iODock with the iRig Stomp. It does everything I used the iODock for (iPad interface for amp modelling, guitar processing and running BTs) just as well for a hundred pounds less. No MIDI, but I wasn't using MIDI with the iODock.

Hi Noel

The Apogee "JAM" is also excellent, although I have an Apogee Duet too, I often prefer to use this both on the iPad and iMac!

I've been using 'stage traxx' for a while and the creator is very good at updating when an IOS upgrade is released. His advice is when Apple release any upgrade don't download it for a couple of weeks as that gives him time to amend it.
