Hi Bob,

I bought two Q20's a couple of years ago,
one came from a firm in London, sold on ebay as dead,
I got it for £70.00 all in! The startup resistor in the
power supply was open circuit!

The second one came from the states with the fault
no display, it cost £100 with all the import duty etc.

It arrived, I plugged it in and turned up the contrast!
all o.k.!

Amanda,

I was lucky too, both of mine were in fine working order and I got them less than £200 each with import tax etc paid. The advantage of the Q20s is the variable voltage tolerance whereas the Q2s had an external 240v power supply for the UK market. I've never got round to modifying mine to preserve the original settings with an additional battery linked in to enable retention of the patches. Although Charlie has made the Q2 programmes available I'm not aware that the Q20s are? Someday that's a bridge to be crossed!

Hi Bob, I did have the Q2 but when I decided to cut back on the number of echo units I had, I offered them all for sale although I opted to keep two, the Atlantis and Magicstomp (which I use at rehearsals). The Q20 is the only EFTP unit that I've never owned (until now) so I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Alan,

Because of the increase in bit sizes between the Q2 and the Q20, it enabled Charlie to improve on the patches previously written for the Q2. I noticed a subtle difference between the units in use. You'll not be disappointed once Charlie has done his magic!

Now loaded with EFTP and sounding very good, better than the Q2 (imo). Will give it a blast next Saturday at band practise.

Told you Alan that you wouldn't be disappointed. I know that Charlie favours the Q20 over the Q2, because of the increased bit size etc., enabled him to fine tune the patches. The MagicStomp still has a place in the pecking order, so don't dispense with that little marvel.
