Alesis Q2 Rack/Box

Postby MagicOurMorris » 03 Dec 2009, 19:32

Hello all, just a quick question to which I think I already know the answer, but I thought I would ask.
Is it generally accepted that these items are DIY? - or is there a reasonably priced pre-built source for such items.
Best Regards
Keith.

Keith

I use the Gator shallow cases - they're great, very robust, lightweight - never had any problems

I had one of the shallow gator boxes but still found them to be still too deep for the units I wanted boxing. I too had a couple of units made by the late John Harris. One was a conventional front loading unit. The other was made to match the Vox AC30 that John restored for me. This unit was a top loader and made to match the Vox and sits on top. I welded and painted a stand to sit on the AC30 with the matching unit on top. I'd also made an earlier stand for the front loading unit, but with the box sitting at an angle for ease of use.

EDITED

I have a request dealing with humming from the KORG in line tuner which I have responded to directly. As it doesn't appear possible to attach photos to messages I've added them to this page that deals with the cases

Regarding my post a #6 I've had a direct request for information regarding the use of the Korg DTR-1 Digital Tuner and the potential of hum with this in-line to the signal from the guitar through to the amp. In answering the querry I needed to attach some photographs of the units used in the two effects cases. So I've added them to message 6 and pointed the member raising the querry to these two additional photos.

Incidentally I don't use the Korg in line because of hum. When Roger Allcock fitted my Vox AC30 with a special version of his Vintage unit (with the EF86 pre amp circuit) and the missing Treble Boost he also added a separate output to feed the Korg digital tuner, thus avoiding in-line noise effects. I also use a Zoom 1204 in the noise gate mode to filter out any extraneous noise from the Boss unit. Sorry for hi-jacking this topic, but couldn't get the photos to attach to my message response!
