The first time I saw Cliff & the Shadows was on their 1962 tour. their " Live at the Kingston Dominion tour" although I saw it at the Southall Dominion I was a bit gutted that some of the hits were worked into medleys @ some of Hanks guitar solos were cut short, but nevertheless it was very exciting,

Probably in 1965 (Palladium - Aladdin). Taken by my parents as a birthday/Christmas present. Then similarly later to Cinderella. Crikey a long time ago!

A older Scots Shadows music guitar player I know here in Oz told me he saw them when they were The RailRoaders!

I first saw Cliff & The Shadows on the open-air stage of Helsinki's LInnanmäki amusement park on 28 May 1964. The opening number was In the Mood.

The 1964 NME Poll Winners concert - after Big Dee Irwin I seem to recall. The Beatles headlined and were screamed at like I've never seen before or since - didn't hear a note.

Flingel Bunt seemed to herald a new, heavier and more up to date Shads with John R, but it was not to be.

I'm really enjoying reading people's reminiscences. I first saw The Shadows in autumn 1979 at the Hammersmith Odeon - I was 15 and cannot begin to describe how excited I was, although my friends at school thought it was a huge joke! I've been lucky enough to see them - and Hank solo - on every tour they've done since except for the 1984 seaside tour. I took it for granted at the time but would give anything to see them one more time...

Similar to the previous post.

I first saw the Shadows in October 1980 on their 'Change of Address' tour at the Apollo Manchester. I was 16 at the time.

Strangely enough, although I can't clearly remember most of the ensuing gigs, I remember that one very well. I remember how it felt to finally be in the same room as them and, if my memory serves me correctly, they kicked off with 'Dance on'. I also remember how several hundred (yes!) members of the audience streamed down to the front of the stage during the encore - and wishing that I was brave enough to do so as well. Well we stood up anyway! It was an electric night - in every respect! Amazing.

The exact Manchester date was October 17. Their first concert outside the UK during that tour was in Helsinki on November 8, and I was there to see them, of course. I still have the tour brochure, which lists all the concerts.

Dance On was the first number in Helsinki as well.

In 1961,at Leicester De Montfort Hall, with Cliff Richard topping the bill, and The Shads closing the first spot, and then backing Cliff.I was only 11 or 12 ,and my sister and her husband took me for a birthday present. In hindsight, the best present anyone ever gave me.It gave me an impetus to carry on learning to play a guitar,an interest that is just as strong now as it as then.I also saw them around 1967/68 at Coventry theatre, there warm up act being Les Dawson, from Oppurtunity Knocks. The abiding memory from that was a knock out version of La Bamba, Bruce singing the lead vocal. They were excellent vocally ,much underrated . Something else that I remember, was it was only half full, and they broke up not long after.I have seen them since, but the best sound was Norwhich ,2004. I have never since heard Hank sound any where near as good as the two shows they did there. The whole show sounded great, but Hanks sound was outstanding. The Shadows to me sound great in a theatre ,and quite ordinary in an large arena. The sound that everybody raved over on the Final tour with Cliff was nothing to the sound he had that night, and on most of the 2004 tour. The gigs at Birmingham the sound was poor, arena again,as were the Cliff gigs.
