I don't think they split in the middle of the booking. It had been announced a while before that the Cliff and the Shadows 1968 Palladium show would be the last as The Shadows were splitting at the end of the season. It had already been arranged that Chris Barber's Jazz Band would do the earlier part of the booking. Of course, they did several more Palladium appearances together in later years - but never with the Hank, Bruce, Brian and John line-up. Stuart D or Jim N probably know more.
It had been announced that Bruce was leaving and the Palladium season was his last gig with that line up. They did their own set and Cliff did his but on the last day - I was there, December 14th 1968- Cliff came on and they did Bachelor Boy and Bruce was presented with a clock that told the time for different parts of the world. It was whilst I was backstage between shows- they did three on the Saturday - that Hank said they were recording Slaughter on 10th Avenue and talked about Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Stuart
