Permanent reference pages

Reading posts where people say - this has probably been discussed here somewhere before - wouldn't it be good to have just a few pages that remain easily accessible as a permanent reference.

They could contain tour dates, core set lists, singles and chart positions around the world, who played on what, guitars used, notes on Brian's drums, etc.

I really enjoy the news and the discussions - but some permanent pages would be good so we don't have to search.

Perhaps we could start a petition too for another reunion they must fancy getting back on stage together occasionally even if they wish to do other things most of the time.

I can see where you're coming from, Howard, but this sounds like a lot of hard work and would need an editor to decide what pages ought to have permanent status. The site has no staff.

We do have message boards for various subjects. Creative use of these allows us all to place information in places where it is more likely to be found.

But really the Search facilities are excellent. Everyone has different interests and this is the best way of serving them. You have to be imaginative with your search terms because if a word is too common on the site it won't be returned by a search. The right search term, however, is a shortcut to loads of fascinating stuff.

For example, if you want to know whether any of Emile Ford and the Checkmates had Shads connections, just enter the word Checkmates in the search or advanced search area and it'll all come tumbling out for you.

Good point, Iain. The problem is that a lot of people don't use the search, preferring to post a new item. How many times has someone asked which album by the Shadows includes La Comparsa? Using the search - or an FAQ - would provide the answer!

But, in the absence of staff..

Sorry guys... The software doesn't lend itself to this. But you can dig into the past quite quickly with the Search facility.

I guess we need an editor to spend a few years digging around and making some PDFs. Some years ago I offered all our content to Shadsfax, but nothing came of it...
