I've said it before and I'll say it again...

Someone really ought to make a film about the early days of the Shadows, say 1958 to 1963. It would be every bit as interesting as the numerous films about The Beatles (For me, more so!).

I agree. That period of British music was great but was overshadowed (no pun!) by Beatlemania -and I'm a big fan of them too. It warants a documentary not just about Cliff and the Shads but artists like Billy Fury, Marty Wilde, Joe Brown, Adam Faith etc etc,

But as we have been led to believe from the press, TV and the media in general, the sixties started with the Beatles. We all know they were the first to use and inspire everyone to use Vox amps! :shh: :silent:

A film would be a brilliant idea - although there has to be a dramatic plot to it that the facts and figures of the story can surround. Biographic films that try to cram in everything without a central 'plot' don't seem to come off. Thinking of the Chaplin film in the 90s.

It's certainly ridiculous that musicians who managed something like 15 number ones aren't appreciated across the board by historians and the public.

Jim McCartney, cousin Di and Hank Marvin at Paul’s 21st birthday party, 18 June 1963.
when they appeared at the 21st party we at least had the chance of passing Hank B Marvin and whispering ‘Hi, Hank’.
Here he is with cousin Di and Dad. http://thegilly.tumblr.com/page/62 Jim McCartney, Aunty Jin and the Shadows
